Storytelling as a Peace Epistemology
We focus on the upper-formative years (ages 9–12), a pivotal period when children start engaging with fairness, justice, and belonging in more complex and reflective ways. At this stage, storytelling becomes a powerful way of knowing—helping children interpret ethical tension, relational complexity, and ecological interdependence.
Rising Advocates contributes to international conversations on peace and global responsibility by:
Advancing conceptual work at the intersection of storytelling and peace learning;
Supporting developmentally grounded narrative approaches;
uplifting diverse cultural and Indigenous storytelling traditions;
Fostering inquiry into storytelling as a peace epistemology.
To cultivate children’s moral, civic, and ecological imagination, we approach stories not as interventions, but as relational spaces where children learn to notice, reflect, imagine, and care.
